I’m fa la la – loving this easy yarn letter garland I whipped together in just a couple of hours. I made a similar garland that said “love” for Valentine’s Day and mad my gal pals each an ornament with using the first letter of their first names last year for Christmas. So obviously I had to bring it back for another rendition this holiday season!
Here are the step-by-step instructions so you can try it yourself:
Supplies
- Cardboard
- Pencil
- Box cutter
- Scissors
- Hot glue & glue gun
Instructions
Use your pencil to draw large, block letters onto the cardboard. I free-handed mine using a straight edge, but you could definitely use a stencil. I chose all caps.

Cut the letters out using a box cutter or scissors.

Begin by gluing yarn along the longest edge of your letter.

Fill in the front side by adding additional lines of yarn to the cardboard letter. Once the front it’s filled in, glue yarn along the outside and inside boarders.

Lay the letters face down and fix to a longer piece of yarn with hot glue.

Once dry, hang the garland to add some extra merry magic to your holiday decor!
