Supplies

  • 1 box of Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Treats
  • Pink melting chocolate
  • White melting chocolate
  • Chocolate chips
  • Parchment paper
  • Microwave-safe bowls
  • Spoon
  • Clear treat bags (optional)
  • Back-to-school ribbon and gift tags (optional)

How to Make Rice Krispie Treat Pencils

Step 1: Shape the Pencil

Unwrap each Rice Krispie Treat. Using a knife, cut the two top corners off one end to create a triangle-shaped pencil tip.

Step 2: Make the Eraser

Melt the pink melting chocolate according to the package directions.

Dip the flat end of each Rice Krispie Treat into the melted pink chocolate to create the eraser.

Before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle a thin strip of gold sprinkles where the pink chocolate meets the Rice Krispie Treat to create the metal band that holds the eraser in place.

Place on parchment paper and allow the chocolate to harden completely.

Step 3: Create the Pencil Tip

Melt the white melting chocolate according to the package directions.

Dip the pointed end of the Rice Krispie Treat into the melted white chocolate. Before the chocolate hardens, press one chocolate chip onto the tip to create the pencil lead.

Place back on the parchment paper and allow the chocolate to set completely.

Step 4: Package for Gifting

Once the chocolate has hardened, place each pencil into a clear treat bag. Tie with festive back-to-school ribbon and finish with a cute gift tag for an extra special touch.

Tips

  • Lay the treats on parchment paper while the chocolate sets for easy cleanup.
  • Work with just a few treats at a time so the melted chocolate stays smooth.
  • Let the treats cool completely before packaging to prevent condensation inside the bags.
  • These make great teacher gifts, classroom treats, lunchbox surprises, or back-to-school party favors.
