Dried Orange Holiday Wreath

It wouldn’t actually be the holidays without a DIY wreath tutorial from yours truly! I think I have 11 wreaths up throughout my home and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon. Follow the steps below to creat your own dried orange wreath and your house will smell delicious and look fabulous in no time.

Supplies

  • Naval oranges (I used 4 but suggest getting a couple more if this is your first time drying oranges)
  • Wreath form (I picked up a plain white wreath from Hobby Lobby)
  • Faux greenery
  • Decorative star
  • Bells or other embellishments
  • Velvet ribbon
  • Twine
  • Hot glue/glue gun
  • Floral wire
  • Foil
  • Cookie sheet
  • Cooling rack

Instructions

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Slice the oranges into thin slices.

Place foil on cookie sheet and a metal cooling rack. Lay orange slices on top of rack in one layer. Bake for 3-3.5 hours flipping every hour or so. Toward the end watch them closely because they can go from beautiful to burnt quickly. Repeat this process until all of your oranges are dried. Let sit overnight.

Glue oranges to wreath form on one side only using hot glue. Layer them on top of each other and use various sizes.

Attach faux greenery to the opposite side of the wreath using floral wire (and maybe a bit of hot glue to help). Leave a bit of space between the greenery and the oranges for your embellishments.

Cut two long pieces of velvet ribbon. Tie it in a large bow in the empty space on the top of the wreath, near the oranges. You may want to help keep it in place with hot glue.

Next, glue the decorative star between the greenery and bow.

Attach bells to the end of a piece oftwine. I decided to use three bells and cut the string at varying lengths.

Attach the other end of the pieces of twine to the wreath, right around or below the start.

Now, step back and admire your handiwork. Gorgeous, right?! Enjoy its beauty and fresh scent.
