Halloween décor doesn’t have to be scary—it can be glittery! If you’re ready to swap out the cobwebs and orange pumpkins for something a little more fun, this Dollar Store DIY is calling your name. With just a few simple supplies, you can turn plain plastic skeletons into tutu-wearing rose gold ballerinas, then string them up for a festive garland that’s equal parts eerie and elegant. Best part? This project is super affordable and totally beginner-friendly.
Supplies

- Dollar store skeletons (as many as you want for your garland)
- Rose gold spray paint
- Black glitter tulle
- Twine
- Scissors
- Small hair rubber bands
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Spray Paint Your Skeletons

Take your dollar store skeletons outside (or to a well-ventilated area) and give them a coat of rose gold spray paint. This instantly elevates them from spooky plastic to glam party-ready! Let them dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Cut & Wrap the Tulle

Cut strips of black glitter tulle about 6–8 inches long (depending on how full you want the tutus). Wrap the strips around each skeleton’s waist, layering them until you get a nice fluffy skirt.
Step 3: Secure with Rubber Bands

Once the tulle is wrapped around, secure it in place with a small hair rubber band. Adjust the tulle so it fans out like a tutu.
Step 4: String the Skeletons

Grab your twine and thread it through the tops of the skeletons (many have a loop on their heads, but if not, you can tie around their necks or shoulders). Space them evenly along the twine so they look balanced.
Step 5: Hang & Enjoy!

Once your garland is complete, hang it on your mantel, in a doorway, or across a wall. You’ll have a sparkly skeleton ballerina squad that’s perfect for Halloween parties or just to bring some festive fun into your home.
This DIY proves Halloween décor doesn’t have to be all cobwebs and fright—it can be stylish, sassy, and seriously fun!
