Another Christmas, another DIY ornament coming your way! If you are new to this space, every year (ALMOST every year) since my senior year in high school I have made a homemade ornament for my girlfriends for our annual Christmas party. Obviously there was a year or two we couldn’t all get together and a couple times the party host created an ornament, but I am fairly confident I have made at least a dozen different ornaments over the years. And when my kids started going to school, I made a few extra ornaments for their teachers. And sometimes family members.
What I am trying to say is I love to make ornaments and I make a lot of them. This year was no different…I took my inspiration from a fellow Instagram creator Shescraftyandsheknowsit and put my own twist on it. An adhesive chenille letter made it personalized, too!
Supplies
- Plastic ornaments
- Gold star glitter
- Felting wool in multiple colors
- Adhesive chenille letters
- Velvet ribbon
- Sparkly yarn
- Wire Star garland
Instructions
Start by removing the lid from the ornament, carefully.

Sprinkle in some gold glitter stars. Shake them around the ornament a bit so they stick to the sides.

Add small chunks of felting wool in various colors until the ornament is nearly filled to the top.

Add a bit more of the glitter stars to the top and then put the lid back on and shake it up a bit.

Next, add some velvet ribbon through the hook at the top and tie it in a loop. This is what you will use to hang the ornament.

Cut a piece of sparkly yarn and wire garland. Tie it to the hook in a bow or a knot.

Finally, add your chenille letter to finish it up!

Now you are ready to gift this beautiful, personalized ornament to your favorite people.
